New Well Beings Blog and RSS Readers

As with all things worthwhile it will take some time to produce articles, make reviews, conduct interviews and transcribing the information for use on our site.

One way people keep tabs on changes from sites they care about is to subscribe to what's called an RSS feed. For example, by adding our feed to your newsreader, you will be able to see if there have been any new items added to our blog without having to visit our site. There are basically three ways to monitor feeds (for most users). One is through a web page like My Yahoo!, Google Homepage, or My MSN, which allows you to add any RSS feed to your home page. This is sort of like customizing your own newspaper.

Another way to keep tabs on sites that matter to you is to download an application that can do basically the same thing. Examples of RSS reader applications include FeedDemon (trialware), Mozilla Thunderbird, and Avant Browser. I really like the Avant Browser. It's pretty much like using IE, but with more features. It's free, there is lots of great documentation online, it uses the IE engine, and it's pretty fast... "Avant Browser has a built-in RSS/ATOM Reader, which allows you to read RSS/ATOM feeds just like browsing web pages. And you can also keep your favorite feeds as bookmarks."

And finally there are browser-based applications like Pluck that are integrated with your browser. This is great if you just want to use IE for example and not have to use a separate application to read your news. Pluck also works with Firefox.

I'll have more information about using a newsreader (aka rss readers) in later posts. We'll also have something about using Apple's iTunes to listen to our podcasts. How cool is that? You'll be able to download some really cool interviews and seminars from our site and store them on your iPod or burn them to CD so you can listen to them in your car on the way to work.

We're really excited to move ahead with this new blog. Everyone we've contacted about doing interviews are eager to get started. We have some top notch experts in the field of pet nutrition, animal veterinary sciences, holistic pet care and more lined up. Topics we'll cover include switching to a raw food diet, getting rid of fleas without chemicals, communicating with your pet, and much more... And you'll have access to all this information right here.

Stay tuned.
